Death
If there was a death in your family or circle of friends, how would you deal with it? Or how have you dealt with it before?

Re: Death
I would lose my mind. I would probably cry tons and tons, because my family and friends mean everything to me.
Losing someone I care for is actually my greatest fear, despite the fact that death is a natural and unavoidable part of life.
I have lost an Aunt, and I cried when no one was paying attention..I am not someone to allow her emotions to be witnessed.
But I would probably lose my mind with grief.

Re: Death
Ironically enough, I've just been told that a distant relative of mine was killed by a Satanist gang today.
I only met him once...So I don't have strong feelings towards the situation, but it does make me feel a little down.

Re: Death
I am a private mourner as well.. I really do keep my emotions to myself....it just goes for a better transition in most cases I think
Re: Death
I keep my emotions to myself. I just stay quiet. I'd still know their energy is still around though.

Re: Death
I lost my friend Luke Petersen (whom we called "Luther") on Martin Luther King day two years back.
We weren't really that close, but I enjoyed spending time with him during marching band. We said 'hi' in the halls and such, but yeah. It was a pretty big loss. I kept most of it to myself, but at his funeral I was with a group of our friends, and we just kept exchanging hugs.
I think it was just last winter that I lost another friend, Jack Sweet. Jack was the kid who would come on the bus, baked out of his mind, and tell us the most ridiculous stories. He sat with me on the bus for a few years I think. Eventually he dropped out of high school.
However, Jack really turned his life around. He got his GED, cleaned up, and joined the army. I heard from one of Jack's friends that Jack's Humvee hit a roadside bomb.
Another private thing. Of course, we weren't really that close, but he was always kind.
Ugh, both were hard.
That and I lost my favorite substitute teacher, Mr. Hutchinson. He ended up getting tanked, fell off a dock, hit his head, didn't come up.
I miss them all.
Then there was the almost death of my Global teacher (alcohol was a big problem, I do believe), but I won't get into that.
Meh.

Yeah, I usually am suddenly stricken with that oppressive burden after a week or a month or even a year. When someone dies, I never cry though. I'm fairly void of most feelings such as those. grief I don't understand really.

Re: Death
Eh...I've lost a few family members, not saying any relations. One was when I was about 6, the other was when I was about 8, and one about 4 months ago.
Haven't lost any friends....that I know of. I've had a friend ALMOST commit suicide, dono if/when they'll try it again. (Thank goodness for bringing to mind what they'd be doing to their friends.)
On the subject of mourning...Well...IDK. None of the deaths have seem to hit me yet. Does this mean I'm some sick, sadistic, apathetic, ba****d?

Re: Death
I really am not sure how I would deal with it, it would take alot of reflection on my part to find resolution.
Re: Death
I mostly just forget about it after a short time. I'm a bit absentminded, though that may be a choice... I tend to wander listlessly.

Re: Death
I was with him a lot in my early preteen years since I was a big on my cousin Paul and my Aunt Julie. I cared for him but we weren't really really close, but close enough to talk a lot and have good times. It is hard to explain I guess. and we would have long conversations mainly on sports. He was a big Dallas Cowboys and OU fan. But he did love the Royals and Braves. And the OKC Thunder.
He has been battling his problems with his liver for a year or two now. He got these issues from drinking. This is another reason why I try to avoid alcohol and probably. I have to high of a chance of alcoholism, as it is in the family, and I have higher chance of getting cirrhosis than the average person because of genes on biological my fathers side.

Re: Death
Well, no matter how close you are the death of a family member always seems to hit home a little bit. All we can do is appreciate the moments we shared that were good. When my grandfather died this last summer I lost someone who was basically my second father figure. He taught me as much about life as I can fathom, and I am grateful for that.
Re: Death
Yeah, it will take time for a lot of my family members to heal and move on.
