Re: Favorite Author
Hmm...This is tough.
I love Edgar Allen Poe, his compelling writing has inspired me to turn to writing myself.
I also love Emily Dickinson. The Wind was such a moving poem.
Shakespeare, Whenever I read his writing I find my writing is much stronger.
Hmm, I'll have to think about this.

Re: Favorite Author
I don't have one favorite. I loved Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar, and how she made insanity seem so natural to the reader. I like Stephen King because his books, even the scary ones, are so realistic. I liked Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights because, although it isn't a particularly realistic story, the flowery language expanded my vocabulary and heightened my senses to a more spiritual realm of writing.

I've read many of Stephen King's short stories, with most of which I wasn't too impressed... I would try to read one of his novels, but I have this thing that I won't read a book if the author's name is bigger than the title... I don't think I've seen one of his books that wasn't that way, lol (:
My favorite author is Chuck Palahniuk, and my favorite poets are Poe and my good friend Shannen, ha (: She's intense, yo. Not famous, but she probably will be someday (:

Re: Favorite Author
That one is one of my favorite of his short stories, actually (:
I first read it my freshman year because it was an assignment, lol, and that's how I was introduced to Poe (:

King's short stories are hit or miss. You should really read The Stand, the book is very powerful and compelling. But read the uncut version it adds about 400 pages making it about 1,100 pages but it's well worth it.

Re: Favorite Author
The novel is divided into three parts, or books. The first is titled "Captain Trips" and takes place over nineteen days, with the escape and spread of a human-made biological weapon, a superflu (influenza) virus known formally as "Project Blue" but most commonly as "Captain Trips" (among some other colloquialisms). The epidemic leads directly to the death of an estimated 99.4% of the world's human population.
That's a short Wikipedia summary of the beginning of the story without giving anything away.
