parent rant
I would like to rant about my father. My dad works on computers and with the internet all day, yet he is convinced that any site he doesn't know every single thing about has viruses. He also worries about signing up for things with an email because he thinks everyone will automatically get all of our information and send us tons of crap which will somehow harm us. Whoops, I've signed up for tons of websites, so I guess that means someone is going to find me and harm me now.
So for Christmas we got an Xbox 360. While signing up for Xbox Live, my dad found out we could get a free month of Gold, so he signed up. But before he signed up, he made a certain email account JUST for using Xbox Live because he didn't want to use one of our family's "personal" emails (which I would have gladly done...). When he signed up, he was accidentally signed onto my sister's gamer profile. Now he is freaking out because the email address is associated with my sister's gamer profile (because her profile OBVIOUSLY holds all her personal information... NOT).
If that isn't enough, he was considering getting the Xbox Live Family Pack UNTIL he started talking to the Xbox Live support. Support told him that you use separate emails because they really are separate accounts (DUH!). So now he's rethinking actually having Xbox Live at all.
Anybody have crazy parents like this?
That is all.

Re: parent rant
Oh, and now he's upset because your Xbox Live account doubles as a messenger account and he thinks that anyone can add you on messenger and that they will add you and find you and kill you.
Cause I OBVIOUSLY want to get on our Xbox for the sole purpose of getting on Windows Messenger.

Re: parent rant
My Dad is semi-paranoid about internet stuff.
He's always thinks it's my fault if our home PC is messing up or has contracted a virus somehow. He also thinks any program I download is likely to be harmful to the computer. This is more reflective of about three years ago when we were always sharing the computer. Now...not so much. He's got his laptop and I've got mine.
Sorry to hear about your father - he is being overtly cautious is in his thinking.

Re: parent rant
Definitely having my own personal computer (a netbook) is a great thing
when we all mostly shared one computer, he'd blame everyone else for getting viruses like your dad did
I guess in some regards it's better to have a protective parent, but honestly he is too paranoid
As annoying as it is, I am glad that others can relate

Re: parent rant
Did anyone else read this thread title as "parent rat?" I did at first.
Anyways, I am sorry for that Kaitlin. Sandy is coming off a little too paranoid. Unfortunately, I have no ideas to try to stop or halt the paranoia.

Lol, there are some things that can be really annoying at a certain point in time. I find myself looking back a lot and realizing..."eh, not so bad..."

Heat of the Moment is the greatest song of all time. Written by musical geniuses Asia.

Re: parent rant
Asia are musical geniuses. I mean they wrote "Stairway to Heaven," it is just a shame that Led Zeppelin stole it.
