Obsession with mediocrity
First topic message reminder :
What is wrong with media? Valuing mediocrity. Yep, American media loves to glamourize the people who have done piss nothing to get rich. Even more reasons why I can't stand this country or living in Los Angelos.

Re: Obsession with mediocrity
LOL she said afterwards she would want to visit Africa to help bring AIDS medication or something..
yeah right. She'd be spreading AIDS. She seems to have recovered from her philanthropic ideas now anyway

Re: Obsession with mediocrity
Posers are usually emos trying to be preps or visa-versa. Either way, they need to kill themselves to fit in.

I hate Nickelback with a passion. Hinder makes me want to vomit. And the Pussy Cat Dolls? Zero talent. Has anyone seen their first album cover? That's demeaning TO LOOK AT.

I find lack of ambition to be the core of mediocrity. I see it in Hutch all the time, especially at the high school. Kids not taking advanced classes because they don't want to push themselves. Kids rebelling against (ultimately playing into) sterotypes because they are too 'different and nonconformist' to give a sh*t what we 'stuck up-prep school bitches' (I have been called that) hae to say about them.

I despise both Nickelback and Hinder. My parents, however, adore both.
Nickelback is the same thing in every song. Trashy lyrics and the same simple power chords. And as for Hinder ... at school dances, couples are like "Ooh, 'Lips Of An Angel' is our song!" ... let's think about this. It's about cheating. Not a very solid song, really.
And they suck as musicians, too xD
And the real masterpieces go right over peoples' heads.
Don't get me started on how people are naive to believe that things are all swell in the states. "Nothing bad would happen because the government wouldn't allow it." The stupidity is astounding. They all race to their graves. But it's the people such as you and I that are "crazy" for defying the systems put in place by the wealthy elite.
It's so sad ... those of us striving to be different .... we're the freaks. The weirdos.
/sigh.

Oh...I've been in cars, or buses, and Lips of an Angel will come on, and there is a chorus of girls singing it. It's quite entertaining.

Re: Obsession with mediocrity
As far as your parents taste in music goes- emancipation? :]
Rather than accept that society is flawed and attempting to make it better, people have a constantly perpetuated cycle of acceptance. "Well Fox said.....CNN said....."- kind of mentality. "I saw it on th news, read it in the paper- it must be true" People look to others to give them answers about problems that we face as a nation- rather than searching for the answers themselves.
